THE MIDDLE EAST The Recordings of The Middle East Disque de l'année 2008

Quel dommage de commencer l'année par un groupe qui sest séparé ! Je découvre bien trop tard The Middle East, groupe australien originaire de Townsville (quelque part dans le Queensland). La seule trace qui restera pour preuve de leur existence, c' est un splendide album intitulé The Recordings of The Middle East. Il s'avère être un long et passionnant exercice de pop athmosphérique et enluminée, pouvant rappeler de temps à autre le travail de Sigur Rós (pour citer une référence à la va-vite).

Il y a certains hivers qui pèsent une tonne, pas seulement à cause du froid et de la neige, mais aussi à cause d'une mélancolie qui s'insinue partout dans le moindre geste, le moindre regard!

En huit pièces majeures, The Middle East a écrit une des plus belles pages musicales qu'il m'ait été donné l'occasion d'écouter en 2008.
La force émotionnelle de cette oeuvre est telle, qu'il me semble impossible de résister. D'ailleurs à quoi bon vouloir résister...

Omniprésente du début à la fin, l'émotion agit en véritable fil conducteur. Elle est aussi bien le fruit des doubles voix homme/femme, homme/homme (magnifique Fools Gold), que des cordes majestueuses, superbes et poignantes notamment sur l'étourdissant morceau final de plus de douze minutes, Tsietsi... Qu'elle soit le fruit des nombreuses balades qui illuminent cet album ( "The Darkest Side" qui ouvre le disque pour ne citer qu'elle) ou la résultante d'envolées de choeurs enjoués ponctuant certains morceaux (Blood), elle est toujours juste. Oui, l'émotion ici est toujours juste, juste où il faut, quand il faut, comme il faut.
Oui c'est un album unique, l'album de 2008!!!!

What a pity to begin this new year by a band which split! I discover too late The Middle East, Australian band, coming from Townsville (Queensland). The only trace which will remain for proof of their existence, it is a splendid album entitled The Recordings off The Middle East. It is a length and brilliant exercise of athmospheric pop, they remind me the work of Sigur Rós.

Some winters weighs a ton, not only because of the cold and snow, but also because that melancholy which insinuates everywhere in the least gesture, the least glance! In eight major themes, The Middle East wrote one of the most beautiful musical of 2008.

The emotional force of this work is such, that it seems impossible to me to resist. Anyway what good is it to want to resist…

Omnipresent of the beginning to the end, the emotion acts as true discussion thread. It is as well the fruit of the double voices man/woman, man/man (splendid Fools Gold), that majestic, superb and poignant cords in particular on the dazing final piece of more than twelve minutes, Tsietsi… It is the fruit of many stroll which illuminates this album or the of flown away of shined choruses punctuating certain pieces (Blood), it is always right. Yes, the emotion here is always right, just where it is necessary, when it is necessary, as it is necessary. Yes this the album, the album of 2008!!!!

POLARKREIS 18 The Colour Of Snow

The boys of Dresden, in Germany, made a second work very Pop. Where on the debut post office skirt melodies and frickelige Beats predominated, now hymns and Discobeats sound; where isolated Streicher fiedelten, plays trumps now Filmorchester the Babelsberg. Polar circle 18 the completely large gesture discovered. They scratch in the ten of song pretty often at the border to Schmalz and along pathos. MARILLION HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD

Il est lumineux, grave, léger avec de magnifiques envolées c'est du Marillion. Ils nous ont habitué à ça, ils faut se donner du temps pour l'écouter et plonger dedans c'est un double album!

Il faudra aller à leurs concerts en janvier en France!

So prog, so great, c'est magnifique!! Take the time to listen it day by day it is a new world!

DAKOTA SUITE The End Of Trying

Beau, tendre, dérangé et impopulaire, voilà les mots qui me viennent à l'esprit. Ce sont des chansons d'une autre planète. Un talent vrai, caché, si lointain, derrière d'autres d'artistes davantage intéressés aux campagnes de pub de la TV, aux couvertures de magazine. DAKOTA SUITE c'est les conneries à la mode en moins, mais plus de coeur et d'âme. Le NME a donné le signal avec un 8 sur 10 et MELODY MAKER les ont félicités avec 4 étoiles !!! « Le chanteur Chris Hooson de DAKOTA SUITE est très, très triste en effet, et pourtant tout semble magnifique. Utilisant des violoncelles, des violons et l'harmonium ,il offre son coeur soigneusement meurtri et battu à nos regards. Et puis tu auras noté le nom de ce groupe que je ne peux qu'aimer, n'est ce pas!!!

DAKOTA SUITE it is the bullshit of the fame in less, but more heart and soul. The NME gave the signal with one 8 out of 10 and MELODY MAKER praised them with 4 Stars!!! “The singer Chris Hooson of DAKOTA SUITE is very, very sad indeed, and yet all seems splendid. Using Viola, violins and harmonium, it offers its heart carefully ravaged and beaten to our glances. And then you will have noted the name of this band which I have to love, isn't it!!!
