NANTES EDITORS

Monday November 12, in the good town of Nantes, it was cold, the night was clear.
I came from Bordeaux to see the English band EDITORS.
I always adored the programming of this festival. I discovered there incredible groups like Low Fidelity All Stars, Vic Chesnutt, Oasis, American Music Club etc, etc.
And this evening, it is still full with surprises. I took time to drink a beer right before the opening of the doors. A small sympathetic coffee just beside the OLYMPIC. The Nantes ones are pleasant and speak easily with everyone. They cultivate their love and their pride of their city with a strange mixture of Breton and Mediterranean attitude. It very pleasant is seen outside.

The first band is called Elvis Perkins. It is very beautiful a sort of little country music, a little pop, a little bordelic. I retain a song: While you were sleeping.

Afterwards, it is definitely more brutal and agitated, the Welsh of Los Campesinos continue with an euphoria and a communicative energy to push pop English in the nettles.
Under pretext of a slanging match between fans of hardcore and indie-pop - the idea even of their sound -, they offer even comic jumps between all the styles of the underground, targeted on fulgurating The International Tweexcore Underground.
I adored this mixture. The girls of the group are very smart, sexy and English. Class!

Afterwards, they are The Noisettes, taken along by tyrannical and sexy singer of Zimbabwean extraction which rush on scene with a sound in Led zeppelin and an imagery glam.
They play the rockn roll, near to that of their nondistant cousins BellRays.
On scene, the London group unpacks the individual ones of its first album, What' S the TimeMr. Wolf?, with an ardour to make pass to TV One Radio for some enfants de choeur.
First of all, the voice of Shingai Soniwa can all be allowed: to sound like Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, like a small frightened girl and all the possible vocal ranges between the two, the whole without any conclusive aiming. Moreover, the soul influences of the injury are undeniable and find their place in a powerful music rock'n'roll, specifies and highly melody which really leaves the paths borrowed per a many English groups of the moment.
The guitarist has a class of a killer.
The drummer, this is John Bonham alive and well. It was incredible!

Well, it is true that I listened to this band to find the emotion which Joy Division had gotten to me. Editors it was already in 2005 a very classieux first album named Back Room, which proved with use to age well. The force of the album, in addition to stroll elegant, resided in individual melancholic persons, dancing and jouissifs all at the same time: Munich, Blood or Bullets sound already like the traditional ones venerated by the fans, whereas Interpol rather has from now on the dimension in the vats of balance... Editors has in addition this force to be immediately recognizable, certainly thanks to the serious and nasal voice of Tom Smith, but especially by the boring and acute guitars of Chris Urbanowicz. Their new album is even stronger. It produces the same pop one racée, melancholic and never really sad at the same time, with pearls like Bones, or The Racing Rats. And then there are the touching ones stroll with the piano (Push Your Head toward the Air or Well Worn Hand) to conclude that the confirmation of all the talents of this group I had it by seeing them on scene. They are simply excellent AAA+!!!
To support and listen absolutely!
