Beau, tendre, dérangé et impopulaire, voilà les mots qui me viennent à l'esprit. Ce sont des chansons d'une autre planète. Un talent vrai, caché, si lointain, derrière d'autres d'artistes davantage intéressés aux campagnes de pub de la TV, aux couvertures de magazine. DAKOTA SUITE c'est les conneries à la mode en moins, mais plus de coeur et d'âme. Le NME a donné le signal avec un 8 sur 10 et MELODY MAKER les ont félicités avec 4 étoiles !!! « Le chanteur Chris Hooson de DAKOTA SUITE est très, très triste en effet, et pourtant tout semble magnifique. Utilisant des violoncelles, des violons et l'harmonium ,il offre son coeur soigneusement meurtri et battu à nos regards. Et puis tu auras noté le nom de ce groupe que je ne peux qu'aimer, n'est ce pas!!!

A true talent, hidden, so far, behind others artists more interested in the campaigns of advertizing of the TV, the covers of magazine. DAKOTA SUITE it is the bullshit of the fame in less, but more heart and soul. The NME gave the signal with one 8 out of 10 and MELODY MAKER praised them with 4 Stars!!! “The singer Chris Hooson of DAKOTA SUITE is very, very sad indeed, and yet all seems splendid. Using Viola, violins and harmonium, it offers its heart carefully ravaged and beaten to our glances. And then you will have noted the name of this band which I have to love, isn't it!!!

TELEPATHE Dance Mother

J'aime beaucoup le dernier TV ON THE RADIO et là, c'est la même impression, un mélange de mélancolie et de naïveté touchante. Sitek a un contact magique infaillible; tout ce qu'il touche devient de l'or. Un exemple, l'album de Scarlett Johansson, où l'architecture amassée du synth de Sitek a été vraisemblablement conçue comme contrepoint aux vocals spontanés de Johansson, immédiatement frais et curieusement convensionnel. Pour ici, le premier album des Telepathe, de Brooklyn Sitek leur donne souvent l'abondance de l'espace pour respirer dans les neuf chansons sur cet excellent disque. . Il y a beaucoup de groupes travaillant dans ce secteur à l'heure actuelle, chant tout brumeux, l'exotisme imprécis, un sens des rituels décrétés. Mais la « Dance Mother» est la meilleure et la manifestation la plus puissante de cette nouvelle scène.




Much as I love the TV On The Radio album, I wonder sometimes if all the hype surrounding David Sitek might be a bit out of hand. For a start, reading some of the stories about “Dear Science”, you’d be forgiven for imagining that he made the entire record single-handed, when in fact virtually all the songwriting was handled by the band’s vocalists and, perhaps, creative heart, Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone. Then there’s the perception that, as a producer, Sitek has an unfallible magic touch; that everything he touches turns to hipster gold. Actually, his CV isn’t entirely unblemished, as some of us who were left nonplussed by, say, the Celebration records can testify. Sometimes, Sitek’s aesthetic can be as smothering as it is opulent. A case in point, I guess, was that Scarlett Johansson album from earlier this year, where Sitek’s massed synth architecture was presumably designed as a counterpoint to Johansson’s offhand vocals, at once chilly and oddly conversational. For me at least, it didn’t really work, but it’s clearly a juxtaposition that Sitek likes. For here’s the debut album by Telepathe, from Brooklyn somewhat inevitably, and while once again it would be dumb to ascribe unbounded Machiavellian qualities to Sitek, they’re a duo whose vision seems pretty well-suited to the hook-up. Melissa Livaudais and Busy Gagnes have diffident, airy voices, and to his credit, Sitek often gives them plenty of space to breathe in the nine songs on this excellent record. The comparative spaciousness of “Dear Science” is followed up here, so that the layers of gushing vintage synths are built up gradually. “Devil’s Trident” is quite brilliant, overlapping streams-of-consciousness unravelling while the instrumentation gracefully increases; by the end, it seems as if the Antibalas horn section, so prominent on the TV On The Radio album of course, may even have crept in to thicken out the mix. There’s something trancey, even a little witchy, about “Devil’s Trident” and other tracks here like “Lights Go Down”. Although the gear may in some cases date from the ‘80s (and judging by a few pics, some of the outfits may, too), it’s hard to find obvious antecedents: imagine “Hounds Of Love” if Kate Bush were replaced by The Raincoats or The Slits springs to mind this morning, though it seems quite a way off the mark to be honest. Perhaps more accurately, much of “Dance Mother” feels like an upgrading of the ‘80s 4AD sound; the translucent grandeur of “Can’t Stand It”, particularly, is heavily redolent of the Cocteau Twins. The twitching beats that orbit round so many of the tracks, on the other hand, are clearly informed by various derivatives of R&B and hip hop. But the resulting music is a kind of obscurely catchy art-pop, where the street beats have been transformed into something mystical and otherworldly. There are plenty of groups working in this area at the moment, all hazy chanting, imprecise exoticism, a hint of rituals being enacted beneath Williamsburg warehouse spaces: High Places, Rings, Effi Briest and even Chairlift are all making good music not a million miles from this. But “Dance Mother” is the best and most powerful manifestation of the scene thus far, I reckon.

Qu'est-ce qui fait le son "Thavius Beck'' ? Trois notes de clavier alternées, le passage au loin d'une boucle sonore, la couleur d'une voix déformée, des zigzags de cordes symphoniques? C'est un mystère et en tout cas c'est incomparable. Dix ans que ça dure, depuis Global Phlowtations et à travers LabWaste. Comment refuser l'appel du voyage, l'écoute de ce disque comme un aller simple vers le pays d'où l'on ne revient pas?
Au loin, un piano désaccordé, le bruit d'un robot ménager bloqué sur la fonction marche, dans l'attente que sa batterie meure. Un appel au secours scandé dans un vieil interphone. Des bribes de discours ou d'appel au secours. Une magie qui opère. Un sentiment qui confine à la certitude : les choses sérieuses ont débuté, dans un désordre et une austérité suffisamment grands. Il faut décider, il faut choisir, se placer d'un côté ou de l'autre de la route.
On retrouve dans ce disque un goût pour les listes, les inventaires pleins d'une humanité lucide. Ce goût revient en bouche avec la plage ''98'. On l'avait aimé dans '(Music Will Be) The Death of Us All' sur "Decomposition", où s'égrenaient les noms de ceux dont la musique moderne a fait des vedettes. On le retrouve ici accompagné d'un big band de station Mir, jovial quoique non-humain. Ou non-exactement humain : martian beat box, claquements de mains compressés par la machine. Oui la musique se fait soudain presque joyeuse, légère en tout cas ; en apparence, car vous l'aurez compris, il en va ici des habillages rythmiques comme des masques à Venise. Ici la liste en question est celle de ce que l'on ressent, en 1998, de ce que l'on voudrait ne pas ressentir, la liste chronologique de ce que l'on constate et de de ce que l'on déplore quand la maladie vient faucher votre père. Et enfin la liste de ce qu'on lui doit, de ce que l'on a du mal à le voir vous laisser, dorénavant, pour vous seul.

FLOWING TEARS Thy kingdom come

" Thy Kingdom Gone" is so class, this is an album which does not miss good moments and of a personal aesthetic direction, and perhaps which is still sought. It is in same spirit that PARADISE LOST and you know how I am fan of that guys but it is true this band is a quiet good goth band. This one give us the desire to follow Flowing Tears and to see where they will go. They are good. The album is opened with sublimes started from piano, of which splendid introductions of " Orchidfire" , " Thy Kingdom Gone" , or " Words Before You Leave" , and especially the second part of " Fortune" miss. The good surprise is the presence of solos inspired on each title, thing rather not very common at a Gothic group to be raised. Some of these solos are even very good (" For My Enemies" , " Thy Kingdom Gone").

"Thy Kingdom Gone" a de l’allure, c'est un album qui ne manque pas de bons moments et d’un sens esthétique personnel, et peut-être qui se cherche encore. On a vraiment envie de suivre Flowing Tears et de voir où ils iront. Et puis je dois dire que je suis fan depuis des années de PARADISE LOST et là je trouve des tas de similitudes, en particulier sur les longs solos de guitare. Il sont bon. L’album est doté de sublimes parties de piano, dont les magnifiques introductions de "Orchidfire", "Thy Kingdom Gone", ou "Words Before You Leave", et surtout la seconde partie de "Miss Fortune".
La bonne surprise est la présence de solos inspirés sur chaque titre, chose assez peu commune chez un groupe gothique pour être relevé. Certains de ces solos sont même très bons ("For My Enemies", "Thy Kingdom Gone").

WE MADE GOD As We Sleep (2008)

We Made God is band who has been playing together for almost four years now, staying in the Icelandic underground scene.

Dans le busines de la musique on croit souvent que tout a été fait avant... et puis c'est très dur pour les musiciens d'aujourd'hui d'inciter les personnes à s'arrêter et prendre le temps de penser, réfléchir, flaner. La nature humaine a besoin d'instant de repos, de recul. C'est exactement ce que ce groupe d' Islande propose.

Ils existent depuis bientôt 4 et restent un groupe underground mais le fond est excellent, très très beau.

PARIS Exposition

Voilà c'est parti DAKOTA s'expose à PARIS!
Mon travail est présenté du 17 novembre au 29 novembre sur l'île Saint-Louis à la galerie ARTMONTI.
J'ai donné un titre à cette expo; BLOWBACK (retour de souffle en anglais mais aussi terme de la CIA pour signifier 'un retour de manche'). J'essaye de parler de la position des étrangers illégaux dans notre beau pays. Qui sont-ils, que nous apportent-ils, quel est leur destin, aiment-ils, quels sont leurs peurs et leur avenir?

Hello Im back, PARIS Im coming! My work is presented from November 17 to November 29 on Saint-Louis island with gallery ARTMONTI.
Igave a title to this exhibition; BLOWBACK (return of English breath but also term of the CIA to mean ' a boomrang effect '). I try to speak about the position from illegal alien in our beautiful country. Who are they, whom they bring to us, which is their destiny, love they, which are their fears and their future?

GLASS HAMMER Culture of ascent

"The Glass Hammer" ; c'est d'abord le titre d'un roman de science fiction écrit par K.W. Jeter, heroic fantasy en fait. C'est aussi depuis quelques années, 1992, un groupe progressif de Chattanooga, Tennessee, créé par Steve Babb et Fred Schendel.
La musique de Glass Hammer c'est le rock progressif des années 70, Yes, ELP. C'est un déluge de virtuosité aux claviers mais aussi des harmonies vocales pleines de relief.
Leurs albums sont conceptuels voir le très réussi "Lex Rex", l'histoire d'un légionnaire dans l'antiquité.
Ici à la première écoute il y a des moments magnifiques, très beaux et puis dela virtuosité.
Jon Anderson est même venu leur donner un petit coup de voix. Il faut aussi dire que l'album débute par une reprise de Yes. Il s'agit de "South Side of the Sky", un morceau signé Anderson/Squire, qui figurait sur l'album "Fragile" de 1971.
"Life by Light", un autre morceau avec Jon Anderson, c'est vraiment un album hommage avec un clin d'oeil à TOLKIEN. A écouter absolument.
"The Glass Hammer" ; This is the title of a novel of science fiction writes by K.W. JETER, heroic fantasy in fact. ADELE 19

Adèle Adkins est originaire de Londres, comme beaucoup de ses compatriotes, elle a connu le succès grâce à MySpace. Elle mélange pop et soul, ses orchestrations sont dépouillées (piano, guitare). Elles permettent de mettre en avant la voix chaude et envoûtante de la jeune anglaise. Daydreamer, Best for last, Hownetown glory et Chasing Pavements sont magnifiques.
Pour information, avec son album, Adèle a déjà un Brit Awards dans la catégorie « Critic’s choice ».
C'est triste et beau.

It is sad and beautiful. Adèle Adkins is from London, like much of her compatriots, it was success thanks to MySpace. She mixes pop and soul, her orchestrations are stripped (piano, guitar). She has a voice. This titles are my favorite : Daydreamer, Best for last, Hownetown glory and Chasing Pavements .

BRETT ANDERSON Wilderness

D'une sobriété à toute épreuve, extrêmement direct, loin de la surproduction des derniers Suede, cet album ne hausse jamais le ton et enchaîne les douces balades, mélancoliques, tristes, des histoires d'amour déçu, d'une beauté assez époustouflante et totalement inattendue de la part de leur auteur, dont la voix chaude, exceptionnellement belle, extraordinairement classieuse, surmontée d'un piano et de quelques cordes, ne laisse pas d'émerveiller. Qui peut se targuer aujourd'hui de posséder un tel organe, reconnaissable entre mille ? Qui peut se vanter, à l'heure actuelle, de posséder un tel charisme, même vêtu d'un pull noir sans forme, d'un jean trop long et de vieilles Stan Smith ?

Parmi les neuf pépites présentes sur le disque figurent notamment "The Empress", d'une incroyable délicatesse, ainsi que "Clowns" et "Back to You", déjà présentes sur les albums live de la tournée de l'an passée. "Back to You", en particulier, marque les esprits grâce à la participation étonnante et bienvenue d'une Nico moderne en la personne d'Emmanuelle Seigner, venue chanter (presque faux, mais c'est touchant) un couplet. Comment ne pas dire un mot, enfin, de "Symmetry", le morceau bonus offert avec la version électronique de l'album, d'une beauté incommensurable ? Ceux qui n'attendaient plus grand-chose de Brett Anderson depuis des années se sont lourdement trompés
Not so far from SUEDE, this beautiful album is soft , melancholic , sad, like the end of this sunny automn. The voice of Brett is hot, exceptionally beautiful, extraordinarily classieuse, with some parts of piano and of some cords, you have to try it.

BANG GANG Ghosts From The Past

Bardi Johannson membre éminent du groupe BANG GANG avec "Something Wrong" dévoilait une douzaine de chansons délicates superbement, revient donc cinq ans plus tard avec un nouvel opus intitulé "Ghost From The Past". Toujours pop, toujours très aérien et mélancolique, cet album se différencie pourtant assez nettement de son prédécesseur. L'émotion est toujours présente et le rythme plus enlevé. C'est d'ailleurs quand il muscle sa musique frôlant un style power pop rock ("I Know You Sleep" et Black Parade") que Bardi Johannson m'étonne le plus. . Mais cela reste une musique de climat avec par exemple, et par hasars, la sublime Keren Ann ("Don't Feel Ashamed"), histoire de me faire regretter encore un peu plus l'absence de suite donnée au divin "Lady & Bird" sorti également en 2003.La bonne idée de Bardi Johannson aura été de regrouper les morceaux musclés au début de l'album avant de franchement ralentir le ryhtme sur la deuxième partie. C'est très beau, quelque chose entre Phil Spector et Brian Wilson!!!

Bardi Johansson leader of the band BANG GANG with " Something Wrong" a dozen delicate songs revealed superbly, thus returns five years later with new a opus entitled " Ghost From The Past". Always pop, always very light and melancholic , this album is however different rather clearly from his predecessor. The emotion is still present but with more rhythm. This is elsewhere when it muscle its music coming very close to style power pop in by example " I Know You Sleep" and Black Parade" that Bardi Johansson astonish me more. But that remains a music of climate with for example, Keren Ann " Don't Feel Ashamed" , history to make me regret still a little more the absence of action taken on divine the " Lady & Bird" also left in 2003.The good idea of Bardi Johansson will have been to gather the muscular pieces at the beginning of the album before frankly slowing down the ryhtme on the second part. It is very beautiful, something between Phil Spector and Brian Wilson!!!

CALLMEKAT “I’m In A Polaroid, Where Are You?”

La mélancolie scandinave comme un vent léger à travers bois, et déjà plus qu'une marche pour l'automne, nous sommes dans un film noir et blanc français des années 60. C'est l'univers de Katrine Ottosen, fortement esthétique et d'une certaine façon universel. J'ai un sentiment étrange d'avoir déjà entendu ou rêvé cette musique pleine de subtilité et de sensibilité rendant les chansons presque nues, transparentes.

Scandinavian melancholy like a light wind through a forest, and already one step before autumn, we are in a black and white French movie from the Sixties. This is the universe of Katrine Ottosen, strongly aesthetic and a certain way universal. I have a strange feeling about already to have heard or dreamed this music full with subtlety and sensitivity making the songs almost naked, transparent.

Ok ok je suis peut-être un peu en retard mais je viens de voir sur une chaine allemande un concert de ce groupe; THE SUBWAYS! C'est un super bon groupe, putain ça déménage, et il y a une énergie punk, un sens de la mélodie! Il faut écouter "girls and boys" ou "rocknroll queen" c'est P.A.R.F.A.I.T.

Ok ok I am late perhaps a little but I have just seen on a German chain a concert of this band; THE SUBWAYS! It is a super good group, fuck they make me feel younger, and there is a punk energy, a sens of the melody! you should be listened to "girls and boys" or " rocknroll queen" It is P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

THE DOVES Best of 2008

Pour moi ce groupe est une sorte de COLDPLAY avec une ambition et une maturité qui sort de l'ordinaire. Ce 'best of' est excellent pour découvrir leur univers.
C'est un mélange de PINK FLOYD et de ELBOW, un peu de rock arty, et beaucoup de poêsie. Ils n'ont pas eu le succès qu'ils auraient mérité mais ici on s'en fout: la minorité qui les aime a forcémment raison! Et puis, ils ont fait une adaptation du 'Moonchild' de KING CRIMSON, musique que l'on retrouve dans le film 'BUFFALO 66', le moment magique où la fille blonde danse seule dans le noir sous un spot blanc, avec le morceau qui n'est pas ici 'M62 Song' sur 'Last Broadcast', et ce morceau c'est une merveille, un diamant de douceur de sophistication inouie, rien que pour ce morceau, ce groupe mérite d'être dans mon petit panthéon de la musique, pas moins!

For me this band is a kind of COLDPLAY with an ambition and a maturity out of the ordinary. This ' best of' is excellent to discover their universe.
this is a mixture of Pink Floyd and ELBOW, a little arty, very very poetic. They have had no success ; but we dont care cause I like them so much: the minority which likes them is right inevitably! And then, they made an adaptation of the ' Moonchild' of KING CRIMSON, music in the film ' BUFFALO 66' , the part where the blond girl is dancing in the night with just one spotlight, with the track which is not here; M62 Song' on ' Last Broadcast' , and this trak is a wonderful beauty, a diamond of softness of amazing sophistication, only for this track they give us they have to be in my small panthéon of the my personnal taste of rock, not less!

FLEET FOXES 'fleet foxes'

Ce disque m'est arrivé à un moment où je révais à l'automne, ma saison préférée, avec les feuilles des arbres qui éclairent le paysage et le vague souvenir des nuits d'été. C’était exactement comme la semaine dernière, de la neige au printemps, en complet décalage, les Fleet Foxes auraient pu nous faire croire que l’on avait de nouveau envie de voir la buée sortir de nos bouches.
La chanson s’appelait ’White Winter Hymnal’, un bouquet d’harmonies, une voix, puis quatre, une petite cymbale, une guitare, et un déboulé. Lancée du haut de la colline on la regarde descendre, sauter, rebondir, grossir, chuter sur un rocher et exploser en flocons!
Ils viennent de SEATTLE mais font une espèce de folk anglais très seventies!
C'est frais et un peu déconcertant mais vraiment très fort pour les harmonies vocales.

This cd arrives to me at one moment when I dreamt about the autumn, my preferred season, with the leaves of the trees which light the landscape and the souvenir of the hot summer nights. It was exactly like last week, the snow in spring, in our crazy weather with no respect for the season we have learnt at school, Fleet Foxes could have made us believe that one again wanted to see mist leaving our mouths. A song called 'White Winter Hymnal', a bouquet of harmony, a voice, then four, a small cymbal, a guita. Launched top of the hill one looks at it going down, jumping, rebounding, growing bigger, falling on a rock and exploding in flakes! They come from SEATTLE but make a special English folk, very seventiesThis is fresh and a little disconcerting but really and extremely good for the vocal harmonies.

KING CRIMSON Starless and bible black

Le groupe, en 1974, dénude à l’extrême sa musique , puisant son inspiration chez les minimalistes américains : Terry Riley, Philipp Glass ou Steve Reich. Se faisant, il préfigure l’évolution que connaîtra le rock au moment du punk... mais n'attire pas un large public pour autant. C'est dommage car le disque a très très bien vieilli, il est riche et passionnant. Des moments de plénitude merveilleuse et puis de tensions vraiment sortant de l'ordinaire avec par le biais des paroles un univers complexe et poêtique c'est à écouter absolumment!

The band, in 1974, strips to the extreme its music, drawing its inspiration at the American minimalists: Terry Riley, Philip Glass or Steve Reich. Being made, it precedes the evolution that will know the rock'n'roll at the time of the punk … but do not attract many people for as much.

This is a pity cause the disc by the time is always so good, it is rich and enthralling. Moments of marvellous plenitude and then of tensions really outgoing of the ordinary with by the means of the lyrics a complex and poetic universe c'est à écouter absolumment!

Le nouveau Mettalica, pas moins, de quoi se redonner de l'énergie et retrouver la rage!

Chanter est une question de vie ou de mort!

Ce titre, c'est déjà un programme. Ajoutez à cela cette pochette, soit très très belle soit moche et ringarde selon la boisson ou l'état d'esprit du jour!

Donc chanter est bien une question de vie ou de mort, un ultime moyen de sublimer son ennui et son amertume.

Le premier titre est plein d'allant et de promesses joyeuses, 'I Woke Up Today' , un titre à réveiller les morts : Ils démarrent en trombe sur un versant pop ensoleillé, puis tout le monde reprend en chœur une mélodie du bonheur. Bref, on profite de la vie qui ne nous fait pas peur.

Ce geste spontané, c’est la marque de fabrique d’un certain état d’esprit du genre indie : on enregistre en duo avec une guitare sèche et une mandoline ou on déconne en bande organisée, en revendiquant la lo fi comme un artisanat de proximité. Port O’Brien s’engage où bon lui semble et emprunte plusieurs routes américaines selon l’envie du moment, en composant quelques ballades country folk dans le plus simple appareil (Fisherman’s Son, Will You Be There), avant de remettre le moteur en marche pour que la machine reparte de plus belle (The Rooftop Song, Close The Lid). All We Could Do Was Sing avance au culot comme ses aînés de Broken Social Scene ou Modest Mouse, avec une grande gueule et une belle humilité, ce qui différencie Port O’Brien de toute une horde de chevelus premiers de la classe, adeptes du baroque éthéré et mal articulé, qui accaparent injustement l’attention de ces tout derniers mois.

FACTOR "Chandelier"

I’m often unsure about how to approach ‘abstract’ hip hop, much of the genre can leave me feeling cold, the only abstractions being that it doesn’t sound like commercial hip hop and r’n’b. So when I was handed the new album by Factor, Chandelier, a canadian guy, I felt some trepidation, readying myself to feel disappointed. Canadian producer Factor has been a prolific producer over the last decade, making beats for many West Coast underground MCs - The Shapeshifters, Living Legends, Swollen Members, Freestyle Fellowship and Project Blowed - and on this, his first solo release, has been assisted by such vocalists as Sadat X, Awol One, Myka9, Moka Only and Josh Martinez.
What first strikes me is the diversity of sounds on the album, drawing influences from indie rock, folk and electronica, underpinned with hip-hop production techniques. The beat in hip-hop is all important, but Factor weaves a tapestry of sounds to make this different from the imitators.
Indie rock sounds seem to be creeping into a lot of hip-hop, check ‘Home Again’, ‘The Leen’, and ‘Electric Furs Of A Lynx’. The folk stylings of ‘Moonlight’, ‘Pray’ and ‘Year Of The Rat’ add another dimension, making the album flow well, not sticking to one style, making for a cohesive and listenable album paying homage to the styles of music he loves.
While there are lyrical themes, which add to the cohesiveness of the album format, I find the vocalists really fine.

Je suis souvent plutôt dubitatif avec le hip-hop abstrait, cela peut me laisser froid , et là, surprise, nous sommes loin du r'n'b commercial de supermarché. Alors cet album de FACTOR, un célèbre producteur canadien, c'est un vrai travaille de producteur souterrain de la côte ouest, avec l'aide de chanteurs tels que Sadat X, Awol un, Myka9, Moka et Josh Martinez.

C'est une vraie bande son pour un bon film noir.

L'album est riche avec une culture rock, de l'electronica indie, soutenus avec des techniques de production de hip-hop. C'est souvent sexy très chaud mais avec une vraie retenue, j'adore!

BLOC-PARTY "intimacy"

Comme Rain et Radiohead, Bloc Party présente son nouvel album quelques jours seulement avant sa sortie. Intimacy, le troisième effort studio des anglais, dispo. en version digitale "haute qualité" depuis le 21 août, sur le site du groupe. Le disque sortira ensuite en format CD, fin octobre. C'est encore une fois excellent et original et très dynamique.

Intimacy, the third effort studio of English, avalaible in digital version " high quality" since August 21, on the website of the band. The disc will leave then in format CD, at the end of October. It is excellent and original and very dynamics, again.

Marseille

Quelques jours de plaisirs à Marseille, je ne connaissais pas du tout cette belle ville. Les marseillais que j ai rencontré ent chaleureux, amicaux et fiers de leur ville, je les comprends!

I spent a week in Marseille a so beautiful town. A mix of sun, sea, good food and rest that was holidays, the right one!

Aujourd'hui après une superbe soirée, arrosée, je mets mon site à jour et je fais de nouveaux tableaux. J'ai beaucoup d'inspiration en ce moment c'est vraiment génial. Je dois aller à PARIS mardi, j'en profiterai pour faire des photos et chercher des idées.

PRIMAL SCREAM Beautiful future

Depuis vingt ans déjà j'écoute chaque disque de ce groupe!
Porté par une foi impressionnante le groupe de Bobbie Gillepsie revient en ce bel été 2008 avec Beautiful Future, disque pop vraiment accrocheur.
Ce disque se révèle écoute après écoute comme le plus accessible des écossais, c'est à n'en pas douter grâce à l'épatant travail de production réalisé par Paul Epworth et Youth, mais aussi et surtout par Björn Yttling (Peter, Björn and John) dont la participation derrière une console se révèle un coup de génie. Une touche de pop suédoise se répercutant sur l'ambiance globale de l'album, qui plus amplifiée par la décision d'enregistrer cinq titres aux Atlantis Studios de Stockholm avec le même matériel utilisé par Abba trente ans auparavant. Un choix surprenant mais définitivement bénéfique à un disque efficace sans être racoleur.Titre d'ouverture, Beautiful Future donne le ton avec une certaine légèreté à une première moitié d'album impeccable. Si le très glam Zombie Man se révèle très rapidement indigeste, l'entraînant et très énergique single Can't Go Back mais aussi un Uptown charmeur aux accents soul figurent parmi les plus belles réussites de ce cru 2008 aux cotés d'un entêtant The Glory Of Love ou de Beautiful Summer. Mais les vraies surprises de Beautiful Future figurent peut-être parmi trois duos inédits de grande qualité. Si la reprise de Over & Over (Fleetwood Mac) en compagnie de Linda Thompson manque de caractère et que le final Viva! vaut principalement pour la participation convaincante de Josh Homme à la guitare, c'est un coup de maître que réalisent Primal Scream et Lovefoxx, jeune vocaliste de CSS, avec I Love To Hurt (You Love To Be Hurt) dans un style mêlant électronique sombre et ambiance pesante.Si certains puristes seront sans doute déroutés par la nouvelle direction suivie par Primal Scream, il ne fait aucun doute que le groupe saura conquérir un nouveau public tombé sous le charme de ses mélodies pop imparables. Un disque basique dans l'écriture, mais franchement accrocheur !

Since twenty years already I listen to each disc of this band!
Carried by an impressive faith the band of Bobbie Gillepsie returns in this beautiful summer 2008 with "Beautiful Future", disc pop really smart. This disc appears listening after listening like most accessible from the Scot, this is the impressive work of production realized by Paul Epworth and Youth, but more especially Björn Yttling (Peter, Björn and John) whose participation behind a console appears a stroke of genius. A pop key Swedish reflecting itself on the total environment of the record, which more amplified by the decision to record five titles in Atlantis Studios of Stockholm with the same material used by Abba thirty years before. A definitively beneficial choice surprising but with an effective disc without being tout. Titrate the opening "Beautiful Future" gives the tone with a certain lightness to a first half of impeccable album. If very the glam Zombie Man very quickly appears indigestible, involving and very energetic individual Can' T Go Back but also Uptown drunk charmer with the accents appear among more great successes of this vintage 2008 in with dimensions the one entêtant The Glory Of Coils or of Beautiful Summer. Perhaps but the true surprises of Beautiful Future appear among three new duets of great quality. If the resumption of Over & Over (Fleetwood Mac) in company of Linda Thompson misses character and that final Viva! is worth mainly for the convincing participation of Josh Homme in the guitar, this is a master stroke whom Primal Scream and Lovefoxx carry out, young CSS vocalist, with I Coils To Hurt (You Love To Be Hurt) in a dark electronic style mixing and heavy environment. So certain purists will undoubtedly be diverted by the new direction followed by Primal Scream, it is not any doubt that the group will be able to conquer a new public fallen under the charm from its pop melodies imparables. A basic disc in l' writing, but frankly a really good one!

Pas de chronique sur le CD de CARLA BRUNI mais TIAMAT's Wildhoney

TIAMAT est probablement l'une des expériences musicales les plus surprenantes jamais créées dans la rock music moderne. Tiamat avait commencé comme groupe extrême genre death metal, incorporant des moments progressifs.
Avec Wildhoney, ils ont laissé le côté métal extrême légèrement en retrait. ils sont maintenant dans un univers proche du PINK FLOYD période "Wish you were here". Je suis très surpris par la qualité de leur travail.
A écouter absolumment.

TIAMAT is probably one of the surprising musical experiment ever created in the modern rock music. Tiamat had begun like a death metal band, incorporating progressive moments. With Wildhoney, they left the extreme dark side to a new world. They are now in a Pink Floyd " Wish you were here" time. I am very surprised by the quality of their work.

EXPOSURE

Après une grosse semaine de vacances, je suis à nouveau en pleine activité. Je travail sur de nouveaux tableaux. J'utilise à nouveau des palettes en bois comme support. J'ai aussi découvert de nouvelles techniques en utilisant les sprays et les pigments avec de l'acrylique. Je suis très inspiré et hyper motivé. J'ai plusieurs projets d'expositions pour 2008 et 2009, c'est génial!

After a large week of holidays, I am again in full activity. I work on new paintings. I use wood pallets again as support. I have also discovered new technics by using the sprays and the pigments with acrylic resin. I am very inspired and hyper motived. I have several projects; esposition for 2008 and 2009, it is the gas!

C'est encore du Hip hop mais que du bon! PACEWON & MR. GREEN un groupe que je ne connaissais pas et c'est bien dommage!

Le vert c'est la couleur du dollar et les paroles sont comme il faut cyniques et marrantes et puis quelques invités!

GLISSANDO

Bon je travaille à nouveau sur une série de tableaux, un secret bien gardé. Je cherche a évoquer les secrets de famille, les vies cachées, les apparences pour effacer les traumatismes et les peurs. Je me suis installé un nouvel atelier, plus petit, plus brut, on verra à l'usage. J'écoute un groupe que je ne connaissais pas, GLISSANDO dans "With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea", j'adore ces titres à rallonge, ils me racontent déjà une histoire.

C'est un groupe anglais de LEEDS, c'est électronique très beau à écouter au casque.

Good, I work again on a series of paintings, a well kept secret, in french. I seek has to evoke the ts of family, the hidden lives, appearances to erase the traumatisms and the fears. I settled a new workshop, smaller, roots, we will see if it works. I listen a band which I did not know, GLISSANDO in " With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea" , I love these titles with extension, they tell me already a history. This is an English group of LEEDS,it is electronic, very beautiful to listen with the headphones.

Duels The Barbarians Move In

Duels are another fine Leeds band, who seem to have really grown in confidence and stature between the release of new album The Barbarians Move In and it’s predecessor The Bright Lights And What I Should Have Learned.
Live they are a visceral band that feed on intensity and a sullen darkness in their music and they’ve successfully transferred that into the album this time round. Less pop orientated and shiny, the album instead is sinister and dark, a brooding masterpiece that grows with every listen you give it.
A much underrated band who continue to go quietly about their business, i’m pretty sure their time will come at some point

Duels c'est un groupe de Leeds leur musique est épique à la fois sinistre et très noire. A chaque écoute je les découvre avec surprise. Je suis assez sûr qu'ils auront du succès!

SIGUR ROS

J'adore cette pochette, j'ai d'abord pensé aux peintres russe Vladimir Dubossarsky et Alexander Vinogradov, en particulier, leur travail sur le box set de TALKING HEADS Once in a Lifetime et puis surprise, c'est le nouveau disque de SIGUR ROS!

J'avais vu ce groupe au festival des Inrocks il y a pas mal d'années, ils étaient passés avec COLDPLAY. C'était sobre émouvant et surtout très nouveau. Ce groupe de jeunes mecs islandais jouaient bien et je les ai trouvés audacieux.

Ce disque est très beau avec des atmosphères vraiment particulières. C'est à écouter absolumment!

I love the sleeeve, I thought that was a new work of the Russian painters Vladimir Dubossarsky and Alexander Vinogradov, in particular on their work on the box set of TALKING HEADS "Once in has Lifetime" and then surprised, it is the new disc of SIGUR ROS! I had seen this BAND IN the festival of Inrocks PARIS a long time ago, they had played before COLDPLAY. That was sober very emotionnal and especially very new.

This group of young Icelandic guys played well and I found them daring. This disc is very beautiful with really particular atmospheres. C'est à écouté absolumment!

BLONDE REDHEAD again!

En y réfléchissant, c'est le premier album que j'ai acheté sous les conseils d'un disquaire très pro du côté du parking Victor Hugo à Bordeaux, c'était un disque vinyle avec une pochette moche mais qui avait quand même une autre gueule que les petits carrés en plastique appelés cd!
Ce disque est excellent A+++. Et puis il y a Kazu, Ah Kazu!!!+++

When I am thinking about that band, I am remembering that it was the first album I've bought under the recommandations of a record dealer, so pro, on the side of the carpark Victor Hugo in Bordeaux, it was a disc vinyl with an ugly shinig sleeve but which had another face nevertheless that the small plastic squares called Cd! This disc is excellent A+++. and Kazu A+++

BLONDE REDHEAD

Ce groupe existe depuis plus de dix ans environ, ils sont de New-York. Longtemps comparé à Sonic Youth ils sont pourtant très originaux par leur démarche, leurs compositions. C'est un groupe intègre équilibré qui même s'ils ne me surprennent plus, ils continuent à m'émouvoir.

Ce disque, c'était leur deuxième album je crois, et il est très bon, très low-fi et marqué par la voix de Kazu, Ah Kazu!!! J'adore ce groupe et je peins souvent avec eux dans les oreilles!

This band existed for more than approximately ten years, they are from New York. Compared a long time with Sonic Youth they are however very original by their attitude, their compositions. It is a good band which even they do not surprise me any more, they continue to give me lot of emotion. This disc, it was their second album I believe, and it is very good, very low-fi and marked by the voice of Kazu, Ah Kazu!!! J' adore this group and I often paint with them in my ears!

The Music

Il est 4h00, c'est la pleine nuit dans ma petite ville et il fait un peu froid, un temps d'hiver! J'écoute le nouveau disque d'un groupe anglais de Leeds, THE MUSIC pour me tenir eveillé. Je travaille sur de nouvelles peintures. Ce groupe dans un morceau comme "drugs" me permets d'affronter la nuit et l'impression de solitude. J'avais adoré leur premier album après les avoir vu sur scène à PARIS. Et là, je retrouve une atmphère à la LED ZEPELLIN avec une rythmique sortie des nuits de MANCHESTER à l"HACIENDA".

à écouter absolumment? Je ne sais pas mais j'adore ça fout la pêche!

It is 4:00, the middle of the night in my small town and the weather is a bit too cold, a winter time! I am listening to the new music of this English band of Leeds, THE MUSIC, they help me waked up. I work on new paintings. The title " drugs" allow me to face the night and the impression of loneliness. I had adored their first album after having seen them on scene in PARIS. And there, I find a mood like in some LED ZEPELLIN records maybe the voice of the singer with a rythm coming from the nights of MANCHESTER in the " HACIENDA".
