PENDRAGON Pure
La nuit dernière en peignant j'ai réécouté ce disque sorti en 2008 et là, grosse claque, c'était super excellent. Cette musique est heavy et cool à l'image du meilleur du PINK FLOYD.La pochette c'est une image d'un contorsionniste se réfléchissant dans des miroirs avec des difficultés et peut-être cela évoque-t-il l'étroitesse de certaines vies, le fait de grandir et s'affranchir de l'adolescence ou bien de la vie d'adulte. Je ne sais pas si je suis bien clair mais la musique est vraiment agréable et en même temps il y a une humeur mélancolique et grave dans le concept. Je note aussi au milieu de merveilleux solo de guitare des atmosphère très inspirées style world music, peut-être!
Allez un petit effort, il faut l'écouter!

Last night I was painting and I listing this record published in 2008 and suddenly the big stuff, that was so brilliant. This music is heavy and cool a sort of best of the best of Pink Floyd. The sleeve is an image of a contorsionist reflecting itself in mirrors with difficulties and perhaps that he seems trapped in narrowness of certain lives, the fate of growing and set free from the teenage or from the adult life. I do not know if I am clear but the music is really pleasant and at the same time there is a mood melancholic and some darkness in the expression. I also have to say that there is so marvellous solo of guitar with some atmosphere very inspired maybe a sort of world music, perhaps! You have to listen it!

THE LEGENDS Over and Over
“Over and over” is a brilliantly modern mix of white noise, 60’s girls pop, indie, ambient and krautrock. Hypnotic washes of distorted synthesizers and sweet bouncy melodies echoes under walls of feedback and crushingly loud shimmering guitars.I'm totally ashamed to say that I'm woefully ignorant as to who, what, where and when The Legends are. Turns out it's Johan from Club 8 and Acid House Kings. I always feel foolish when things like this happen, but then I'll just have to accept that I'm no longer the thrusting young indiepop buck I once (never) was.I ramble! This is a very neat little album indeed. it starts off like Cher singing the opening bars of The Cure's Pornography album (yes - that good), before the sublime Seconds Away sets the tone for what's to follow; fuzz, distortion, feedback, sythensizers, mangled guitars and some serious pop.Always the Same features vocals from Liane Moccia and sounds like something from the first few Primitives singles, and then there's the wistful Monday to Saturday - a sort of swinging 1960s girlpop thing, and wonderfully throwaway.Other times The Legends sound like they're about to break your heart at any second. See Heartbeats, during which you hardly dare breathe, just in case it all collapses.That it's followed by the storming Dancefloor, the sort of song that the Pains of Being Pure at Heart could probably put their name to, is almost laughably perverse. In the best possible sense.Over and Over is one of those albums that you want to end... but only because you can start listening to it again. Remember those?

« Over and over» est un mélange brillamment moderne du rock bruitiste blanc, un peu années 60 où les filles sautaient, de l'indie et du krautrock. Vagues hypnotiques de synthétiseurs vintages et d'échos plein de douces mélodies sous des murs de fuzz et de crush de guitares trop fortes. C'est affligeant d'être un ignorant à propos de ce groupe. Je me sens toujours idiot quand les choses comme ceci se produisent, trouver une perle indie tout à coup sans aucune rumeur préalable!
C'est un petit album très ordonné . il commence comme Cher chantant les premières mesures de l'album Pornography des CURE, pas moins! Enfin tout se mélange avec des choeurs des chansons des poussées d'adrénaline (C'est si bon Hein! Eric GERETS!), c'est très très pop! Bonne écoute!

THE SHORTWAVE SET replica sun machine
Bon si tu as aimé le morceau M62 song par les DOVES ou bien Moonchild par KING CRIMSON alors il n'y a à hésiter écoute ce disque (le morceau 1 Harmonia, une perle!)! J'ai déjà chroniqué cet album mais je le trouve si beau que je commets à nouveau un petit post dessus!
Une replica sun machine est une invention qui me semble parfaitement inutile car imiter le soleil c'est inutile, non?
Partant de ce constat, le trio Londonien a réussi à sortir un album absolument indispensable, parce qu’il est tout simplement beau et qu’il n’y a jamais assez de soleil ou de légereté à se mettre dans les oreilles.
L’histoire de cet album ressemble à celle d’un conte de fées. Malgré un succès critique de leur premier opus, The Debt Collection, dans des médias d’influence, ce déjà très bel album de collages classieux était passé inaperçu. C’était sans compter sur la curiosité d’une drôle de souris appelé Danger Mouse, moitié de Gnarls Barkley, auteur de l’album gris (le blanc des Beatles mixé avec le noir de Jay-Z) et producteur de génie. Il a un coup de foudre pour le groupe alors qu’il joue sur une (petite) scène d’un festival dont ils partagent l’affiche. Il leur propose d’enregistrer leur deuxième album dans son studio de Los Angeles. Le genre d’occasion à ne pas laisser passer, alors les deux anglais et la suédoise cassent leur tirelire, et réunissent tous les dollars qu’ils peuvent trouver pour se payer le billet d’avion et un logement sur place.
Le résultat de ces sessions est un petit bijou pop dans le respect de la qualité et de la tradition qui fait que les classiques des 60-70’s peuvent encore être écoutés avec plaisir aujourd’hui. Dans certains titres il y a des références directes aux plus grands, Velvet Underground et Nico sur Replica, David Bowie sur Now til 69, les Beatles dans la ballade House of lies.
Il n’y a pas de hasard dans ces références classiques puisqu’elles s’accompagnent de quelques collaborateurs prestigieux, John Cale du Velvet vient prêter son violon et Van Dyke Parks (collaborateur des Beach Boys) arrange quelques cordes. Autant de talents réunis sur un même disque par la passion et sous la houlette d’un grand producteur ne pouvaient que donner un résultat d’exception.

The kind of occasion not to let pass, then the band breaks their moneybox, and join together all the dollars which they can find to buy the plane ticket and a rent house. The result of these sessions is a small pop jewel in the respect of quality and the tradition which makes that traditional 60-70' S can still be listened with pleasure today. In certain titles there are direct references to largest, Velvet Underground and Nico on Replica, David Bowie on Now til 69, Beatles in the House ballade off dregs. There is no chance in these traditional references since they are accompanied by some prestigious collaborators, John Cale of Velvet comes to lend his violin and Van Dyke Parks (collaborator of Beach Boys) arranges some cords. As many talents joined together on the same disc by the passion and under the crook of a large producer could only give one result of exception.

TELEPATHE Dance mother
Capitale d'une forme de hip-hop que j'adore, mais aussi carrefour du rock alternatif , je vous emmene à Brooklyn (petit clin d'oeil à José et Christine):
C'est un nouveau groupe, TELEPATHE, formé de Busy Gangnes et Melissa Livaudais. Elles ont lancé cet ovni sortant de l'ordinaire et je trouve ce disque vraiment original et même plus audacieux que MGMT, eux que je les aime que sur certains titres!
Ce duo féminin mêle à leur electro-pop des touches de musique world (rythmes et chants aux sonorités ethniques, comme dans "Lights Go Down", période post punk ou un peu comme TV On Radio) et puis du hip-hop destructuré. On passe de l'electro vigoureuse et réjouissante de "So Fine" à l'émotion étrange de "In Your Line" en un battement de coeur et sans se sentir désorienté. C'est qu'à la production opère un petit génie : le ''TV On The Radio'' David Sitek, qui rate rarement son coup. D'un coup de baguette magique, Sitek a harmonisé le tout, transformant les blips synthétiques en pop à l'état pure (enfin pop avant-gardiste, qu'on soit bien d'accord), conservant juste assez de dissonances pour éviter de tomber dans le sirupeux.

Pulsating rhythms and synth riffs are the order of play for Brooklynites Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais 's debut album as Telepathe. It follows 2006's EP Farewell Forest, which was recorded on an eight - track, and a smattering of festival appearances in 2008. As such, it feels like it's been a long time coming.Indeed the album took the duo nearly a year to record. They started with vague ideas for songs in December 2007, after which they took Dave Sitek of TV On the Radio on board as a producer, which was only going to up the ante of expectation. How much of the resulting record's sound is down to him is necessarily moot, but the dense, shifting sonic layers will sound familiar to Sitek aficionados.So far, so experimental, but there's an unmistakable pop touch in amongst it all too.
Their mix of vocal harmonies and tribal drum patterns, especially on Your Line, are a very special thing a quiet betrter than MGMT at their best!
Dance Mother is not, and is clearly not made to be, easy listening - it's an admirably ambitious rather than lovable record, and it doesn't reveal its secrets in a single listen. It's also not at all danceable. But its adventurous textural melding of outré and familiar should reward anyone prepared to be patient.
